A woman whose minivan overturned after it was smashed by an SUV in front of a Concord middle school on Wednesday morning escaped with only a minor cut on her elbow, police said.

The wreck happened at 7:48 a.m. near Minert Road and Weaver Lane, near Oak Grove Middle School. The woman was turning her Toyota minivan onto Minert from Weaver when it was struck by a Mitsubishi Montero, Concord police Lt. Darrell Graham said.

The force of the collision caused the minivan to overturn and come to rest against two other cars, Graham said. The woman was taken to a hospital via ambulance after complaining of pain but was discharged with only the minor cut, Graham said.

Nobody else was injured in the wreck.

The cause is under investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be a factor in the crash.
