OAKLAND -- A man was shot in the leg Friday afternoon during a robbery at his home in the Oakland hills, police said.

The shooting happened about 1:10 p.m. in the 3100 block of Monterey Boulevard, a street that runs just below Highway 13, near the Mormon Temple.

Police said three suspects tried to rob the man at the house.

It was not clear if the man confronted the suspects inside the residence or was chasing them on the street when he was shot. Police would not say if there was any loss.

The man was in stable condition at a hospital. The suspects fled in a car, possibly a green Honda, police said.

Police and Crime Stoppers of Oakland are offering up to $5,000 in reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. Anyone with information may call police at 510-238-3821 or a tip line at 510-773-2805.
