Where else, but in our first-ever TV Couples Tournament, would you find Marge and Homer Simpson mingling with Mary and Matthew of "Downton Abbey"?
Yes, that's the bizarre matchup we're left with on one side of the tourney bracket -- a suburban, yellow-skinned cartoon duo against a pair of post-Victorian British aristocrats.
Oh, this should be fun.
On the other side of the bracket, two iconic couples from television's past are left to duke it out: Clair and Cliff of "The Cosby Show" against Maddie and David from "Moonlighting."
To reach the final four, the Huxtables pulled off an impressive victory over fellow sitcom favorites, Sam and Diane, of "Cheers." The couple representing that bar "where everybody knows your name" had racked up the largest vote totals in Rounds 1 and 2, but couldn't vanquish the "Cosby" couple, who got 58 percent of the vote.
Meanwhile, Maddie and David won by the largest percentage of votes -- 59 percent -- to cruise past Scully and Mulder of "The X-Files."
To reach the semifinals, Marge and Homer topped Cameron and Mitchell of "Modern Family" fame, while Mary and Matthew beat out Brennan and Booth of "Bones."
Mary and Matthew had barely scraped by in their first two matchups, but had an easier time of it in Round 3, winning with 54 percent of the vote. The Brits will need all the support they can muster if they want to knock off the most enduring cartoon couple in American television
And your votes are needed now more than ever. To decide who will advance to the tourney final, simply use the link at the bottom of this story to choose your favorite lovebirds. TV couples of the past make up one side of the bracket and present-day couples fill out the other.
Semifinal voting ends at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, after which we'll be left with our final showdown.
