An Oakland parolee who failed to halt at a stop sign was arrested in Marin City after deputies found a handgun in his vehicle, police said.
Ramont Johnson, 25, was arrested and booked into the Marin County Jail late Saturday night on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and for carrying a concealed weapon.
Marin County sheriff's Lt. Jamie Scardina said authorities stopped Johnson at 11:59 p.m. on the 90 block of Cole Drive for a stop-sign violation. A canvas bag in the car revealed more violations, Scardina said.
"Because he was a parolee, the deputies searched the car. They found a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the passenger side of the vehicle," Scardina said.
