OAKLAND -- A 42-year-old man was expected to recover after being shot in the eye Friday morning in West Oakland, police said.

The shooting happened about 4:44 a.m. in the 1100 block of Willow Street. The man got into a confrontation with another man, who shot him. The suspect then fled. Police haven't yet established a motive for the shooting.

The victim lived in the area, police said. He was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition; he was expected to recover.

The shooting followed two separate shootings Thursday in which teenagers were wounded.

A 16-year-old boy was in critical but stable condition at a hospital after he was shot about 8 p.m. Thursday at Fairfax and Courtland avenues.

Earlier, a 17-year-old student who was jogging to sports practice at Fremont High School about 4 p.m. was shot in the leg in front of the school in the 4600 block of Foothill Boulevard.

All the victims are expected to survive. No motives have been established in the shootings and no arrests have been made.
