CONCORD -- Police said a man was high on drugs when he hit three cars in a series of hit-and-run crashes and came to a stop only after driving through a fence and hitting the wall of a home Friday.
Concord resident Michael James Krueger, 45, was arrested on suspicion of hit-and-run and driving under the influence after he left the scene of one crash and subsequently hit two other vehicles before crashing into the home, police said.
Krueger was taken to John Muir Medical Center for treatment of injuries received in the incident, but no one else was injured.
Officers responded about 2:15 p.m. to Laguna Street and San Carlos Avenue for reports of a crash involving a 1989 Blue GMC Jimmy and a 1998 Lincoln Sedan.
Witnesses said the Jimmy drove off from the crash toward Carleton Drive.
When officers arrived, they found the Jimmy and its driver, later identified as Krueger, in a backyard of a residence at Mt. Diablo Street and Carleton Drive. He had driven through a fence and crashed into an exterior wall of the home.
Officers later determined that the Jimmy was involved in two other crashes in the 3000 block of Mt. Diablo Street after it had driven off from the first collision.
