A passenger in the car surrendered to police without incident. No one else was reported injured.

The chase began about 12:30 a.m., when Daly City police spotted a stolen car, which they pursued into San Francisco. Daly City police ended their pursuit on Highway 280 at southbound Highway 101, but San Francisco police saw the car on San Bruno Avenue a short time later.

The driver brandished a gun at officers during the pursuit, police reported. The driver, still armed with a handgun, and the passenger abandoned the vehicle while it was still moving at the intersection of Hester Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard.

As Daly City and San Francisco police approached the driver, he raised his gun, according to San Francisco police Officer Carlos Manfredi. A Daly City officer fired at the suspect and struck him in the torso.

The suspect later succumbed to his injuries. Police said they were not releasing any information on the man Saturday night. Police also did not identify the passenger or say what charges he may face.
