MILPITAS -- A three-inch natural gas pipe that ruptured on South Main Street during underground repair work has been capped, the Milpitas Post is reporting.

The rupture occurred at 1:22 p.m. and prompted the closing of Main Street near Great Mall Parkway.

A city official said the pipe ruptured during sewer line replacement work.

There were some evacuations nearby, but no one was injured.
