SAN JOSE -- Police had little information Thursday about a rare homicide in a normally quiet Almaden Valley park the day before, but said the stabbing death of a young man there was not gang related.
The year's seventh homicide victim was found shortly before 4 p.m. near a hiking trail at Guadalupe Oak Grove Park. He is believed to be in his early 20s and was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple stab wounds.
Police and neighbors said it's very unusual to see a homicide in the affluent neighborhood in South San Jose.
"This neighborhood is not known for a high level of crime," said police spokesman Sgt. Jason Dwyer.
Dwyer said police expect to publicly identify the slain man soon.
Wednesday's homicide was the first of two stabbing deaths reported in as many days. On Thursday, Stanley Jacobson, 69, was found stabbed to death in his apartment at a senior living community. Police arrested an unidentified person.
