OAKLAND -- A celebration among friends took a less-than-festive turn early Saturday after an unwelcome bystander shot up their party bus after he wasn't allowed to board, police said.

The group was reportedly leaving a bar in the area of 14th and Webster streets just after 1 a.m. when an uninvited man tried to board the bus with the partygoers, Lt. Kevin Wyley said. When the man was told he could not get on the bus, which was rented by the group for the private party, he shot at the bus from the curb.

The bullets shattered multiple windows and penetrated the siding, Wyley said. None of the revelers were hit.

Investigators did not immediately disclose whether the partygoers knew the man, who ran away after the shooting. A description of the shooter has not yet been released.

Anyone with information about this incident may contact the Oakland Police Department at 510-238-3744.
