OAKLAND -- Friends of a 31-year-old woman missing since last Thursday were out Monday morning canvassing the North Oakland neighborhood where she was last seen.

Erica Maskaleris was recorded on video just after 7 a.m. Thursday in the 3400 block of Telegraph Avenue, by a merchant's surveillance camera, friends said. Maskaleris, who is part-owner of an IT consulting company, was wearing jogging attire when she was last seen.

Family and friends said it was out of character for her not to contact anyone and of particular concern is that Maskaleris was scheduled to fly to Texas that night to visit a brother. She did not take the flight and the brother has since flown to Oakland.

Maskaleris is operations manager at GeekoSystems, a computer consultation company based in Oakland that she started with her late husband in 2009.

Friend Mary Lim-Lampe said Maskaleris lost her husband to cancer last year and even though she had gone through a "lot of hard stuff she was not distraught or depressed lately. She was excited about her trip to see her brother."

Lim-Lampe said people called Maskaleris' cell phone to no avail before it apparently stopped working Friday.

A prayer vigil was held for her Sunday night in the area where she was last seen.

"We're not sure what's going on and have had no feedback," said Gloria Rivera, 50, a friend from the First Congregational Church of Oakland, where Maskaleris attends services.

Rivera spent Monday morning canvassing outside of A Taste of Denmark Bakery.

Maskaleris is Latina, about 5 foot 3 and 220 pounds with dark brown, long curly hair. She was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and red tennis shoes.
