SAN JOSE -- A small plane had landing gear problems and skidded off the runway at Reid Hillview Airport in East San Jose on Wednesday evening according to fire officials, who said it was the second similar incident there since Sunday.
San Jose fire Capt. Reggie Williams said it was unclear whether the plane was taking off or landing around 6:50 p.m. when the landing gear on one side collapsed.
There was a pilot and a passenger aboard, and both were treated for minor injuries at the scene and did not need hospitalization, Williams said. The plane did not catch fire, but skidded along the field on its belly, he said.
He said the pilot did not immediately know what exactly happened with his aircraft.
Williams said a similar accident was reported on Sunday at the airport, also without injuries, but he did not have details about that incident.
