ALAMEDA -- A garage fire broke out Thursday morning at a single-story duplex and caused about $10,000 in damage to a home, authorities said.

No injuries were reported and a family that lived in the home made it out safely.

Firefighters responded to the blaze just before 7 a.m. at 3000 Bayview Drive, said Alameda Fire division Chief Daren Olson.

A family that lived in the duplex was home when the fire broke out but no one was injured, Olson said.

A preliminary investigation revealed the fire broke out in a garage connected to the home, which sustained minor damage to the first floor and roof, Olson said.

Fire crews knocked the fire out about 7:15 a.m. and as of 7:45 p.m. remained at the scene.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Thursday, but did not appear to be suspicious in nature.
