LIVERMORE -- A preschool was shut down by the California Department of Social Services on Friday after it was discovered the business was not properly licensed.

The department, aided by Livermore police, ordered the closure of Sunnyside Infant and Preschool, located at 1040 Florence Road.

The preschool, which is owned by Universal Preschool LCC, was shut down due to state licensing violations discovered by the department, according to a Livermore police news release.

Livermore detectives assisted the Department of Social Services throughout the day in locating parents and informing families of the closure.

The preschool is not affiliated with the Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District.

Police said they had not received any reports of criminal violations, but will be working with the Department of Social Services to ensure no crimes were committed.

The licensing violations are not being handled by the Livermore Police Department.
