SAN JOSE -- Tips via phone and social media sites led to the arrest of one purse-snatching suspect and to the identification of another, San Jose police reported.

Jozette Rios, 20, of San Jose, was arrested Thursday and booked into Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of robbery. Police are seeking her brother, Jonathan Zipriano Rios, 21.

He is believed to be homeless, staying in the downtown San Jose or Alviso area. He is described as 5-foot-8, about 165 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Surveillance video at the Race Street light-rail station captured an assault Feb. 6 at 6:52 p.m. A woman who had gotten off a light-rail train was punched and kicked by a female assailant. A male attacker then ripped the victim's purse away and was seen riding a 10-speed bicycle with curved handlebars. Police have not named the victim.

VTA trains, platforms and transit centers are equipped with closed-circuit surveillance cameras, which record video that can be viewed in real time.
