SAN JOSE -- The California Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run death after the body of a 39-year-old San Jose woman was spotted by motorists on Interstate 280 in this morning.
Drivers made the discovery just before 3:15 a.m. and called 911, according to CHP Officer Ron Simmons.
The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office has identified the victim as Amanda Vente.
Vente's body was in a southbound lane of 280 near the McLaughlin offramp, according to the CHP.
The CHP has no information about why the woman was on the freeway in the early morning hours, according to Sarabia.
"We're hoping someone from the public will come forward and give us some information," Sarabia said.
