A 43-year-old man out of jail on bail for one day was arrested Saturday after allegedly trying to strangle a 50-year-old Novato man with a towel, Novato police reported.
Grant Wehr was taken into custody near Marin General Hospital after the alleged 10:44 a.m. assault at the victim's home in the 100 block of Lobo Vista in Novato. Police said Wehr tried to strangle the man with a towel, threatened to kill him, struck him in the mouth with his elbow and then fled from the scene. He was booked into Marin County Jail for suspected assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, battery and committing a felony while on bail.
Investigators said Wehr was out of jail on bail after he was arrested by Novato police on Friday for suspected DUI, resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance. Bail was set at $150,000.
