RICHMOND --A man whose body was found in the water near an industrial marina in Richmond on Sunday has been identified as 64-year-old Richard Wood, a Contra Costa County coroner's office spokesman said.
Wood, of Richmond, was found by a friend in the water near the 300 block of West Cutting Boulevard about 3 p.m., said Lt. Bisa French. When officers arrived, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
French said there were reports of people having last seen Wood on Friday night or early Saturday morning.
Initially, Wood's death appeared to be suspicious, but detectives determined no foul play was involved and have deemed his death unexplained, French said.
As of Monday evening the coroner's office had not determined his cause of death.
