OAKLAND -- A woman who was arrested after she hit and killed a bicyclist has been identified as a 52-year-old San Leandro resident, authorities said.

Sherry Anderson was arrested several hours after her car struck and killed a bicyclist riding in the 2600 block of Peralta Street about 10:20 p.m. Saturday, police say.

The victim, identified Tuesday as Wilfredo Martinez, 37, was taken to an area hospital, where he later died. His city of residence was not available Tuesday.

Police said Anderson drove away from the scene but returned several hours later and was arrested on suspicion of hit and run, drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter. She has been released from jail but has not been charged by the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
