SAN JOSE -- A cement truck tipped over after banking too sharply on a freeway interchange and snarled traffic for the entire Tuesday morning commute, the California Highway Patrol said.
The hauler was traveling from southbound Interstate 280 to northbound Highway 101 about 6:20 a.m. when it tipped onto its side. The driver was not seriously injured, but the mixer lay prone for most of the morning drive, causing lengthy backups in the area and the closure of the connector.
Officer D.J. Sarabia said the driver likely was traveling too fast for the interchange.
Crews cleared the roadway around 10 a.m.
