ANTIOCH -- Local residents who have beaten cancer will gather downtown in celebration next weekend with their family, friends and caregivers.
The Antioch chapter of Relay for Life will hold its first ever Car and Bike Show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 13 at the parking lot of City Hall, 200 H St.
Festivities will include the automobiles, raffles, special guest speakers, food and music.
The survivor celebrations the last few years have featured fashion shows and teas. This year, the Relay for Life group is trying "to bring in the male point of view," event chair Judy Dawson said.
"Males get cancer too. We thought this would be an exciting way to honor the survivors and show what the American Cancer Society does," she said. "We're very excited to get this off the ground."
Survivors will enjoy a free box lunch and other surprises, according to a news release. There will be some items available to all for a small fee.
All proceeds will go to the local Relay for Life event, which will be held June 22 at Los Medanos College.
