SARATOGA -- Santa Clara County fire crews knocked down a house fire on Aspesi Court in Saratoga near Highway 85, where downed wires initially caused problems accessing the burning building, according to dispatchers.
The fire was reported at 7:45 p.m., and arriving crews found downed live power lines posing a potentially life-threatening hazard.
According to dispatchers, the firefighters first went into "defensive mode," which means that they focused on stopping the blaze from spreading from the involved home. They were able to get water on the burning home and it was declared knocked down at 8:23 p.m. except for some hot spots. But when crews went inside the dwelling, the fire re-established itself in a bedroom and they had to evacuate and attack it again from the exterior.
Dispatchers said nobody was injured. The extent of damage to the home was not immediately known.
