BAY POINT -- A pedestrian was in critical condition after being struck by a car driven onto a sidewalk Sunday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Officers were called at 12:17 p.m. to Alves Lane near Tammy Circle for a report of a man struck by a car, CHP Officer Eric Anderson said.
The victim, who suffered major injuries, was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Concord in critical condition, Anderson said.
The driver of the car was cooperating with investigators, authorities said.
It was not immediately known what caused the crash. The collision remains under investigation by the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.
