Contra Costa County sheriff's deputies are searching for an inmate who escaped from a detention facility early this morning, according to the sheriff's office.
The inmate reportedly escaped the Marsh Creek Detention Facility in Clayton at about 2:30 a.m., sheriff's officials said.
No shelter-in-place has been advised by the sheriff's office, but residents are instructed to maintain awareness of their surroundings at all times.
The inmate is described as a white man standing 6 feet tall, weighing 165 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes, according to the sheriff's office.
