SUWANEE, Ga. -- A man holding four firefighters hostage was killed after police stormed the house, authorities said Wednesday afternoon.

One police officer was lightly wounded after police forced their way into the house after exploding a flash-bang grenade, a police spokesman said.

After the explosion, the sound of gunshots was heard in the neighborhood where a gunman had lured firefighters to his home, only to take them hostage.

At about 7:30 one explosion shook the area and authorities moved onlookers and media farther back in Suwanee, about 35 miles northeast of Atlanta. More blasts followed.

Authorities say five firefighters responded to the call in Suwanee and were eventually taken hostage by an unidentified. The gunman released one of the firefighters to move a fire truck.

Two ambulances were seen leaving the subdivision.
