WALNUT CREEK -- Malfunctioning equipment has left roughly 1,400 people without power Wednesday evening, PG&E officials said.

The outage, which was first reported around 7:54 p.m., has left 1,417 without power due to equipment on top of the electrical pole somehow malfunctioning, according to PG&E spokeswoman Jana Morris.

What caused the malfunction is still under investigation, and there is no estimated time of restoration, she said.

There may be some traffic delays due to equipment trucks driving in and out of the area, located near Tice Valley Road, just west of Meadow Road.
