The Metropolitan Education District board has named Alyssa Lynch of Campbell as its next superintendent.

Lynch replaces Paul Hay, who has been superintendent since 2007 and retires May 31.

Lynch was chosen from among seven finalists for the job. She has been director of career technical education for the Santa Clara County Office of Education since July 2008. Before that, she worked as an administrator with the county office's Regional Occupational Program, an instructor at Mission Valley ROP in Fremont and a program counselor at St. Mary's College in Moraga.

Lynch helped launch a career-technical education initiative in the county. She holds an administrative and vocational education credential from San Jose State University.

At MetroED she'll be paid $160,000 annually.

MetroED runs career and technical education and academic programs for 12,500 adult and high school students. It is a joint agency of the Campbell, East Side and Los Gatos-Saratoga high school districts, and the Milpitas, San Jose and Santa Clara unified school districts.
