OAKLAND -- A 23-year-old Oakland man was gravely injured Thursday night when the dirt bike he was riding collided with a pickup truck in East Oakland, police said.
The man's name was not released.
The collision happened about 6:56 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of 79th Avenue and Holly Street which is a few blocks from Arroyo Viejo Park.
Police said the man was riding a "Honda motorcycle designated for off-road," commonly known as a dirt bike, eastbound on Holly Street when he collided with a Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by a 60-year-old Oakland man that was going north on 79th Avenue.
The 23-year-old man was not wearing a helmet, police said. He was taken to a hospital.
The truck driver was not hurt and stayed at the scene, police said.
