ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- A's opening day starter Brett Anderson was lifted from Friday's game against Tampa Bay after just one inning.
He left the game with a sprained right ankle. He wasn't hit by a ball, so it's possible that he hurt himself jumping in pursuit of a Sean Rodriguez grounder that went for an infield single to short.
Evan Scribner took the mound to start the second inning against the Rays after Anderson gave up four hits, two walks and four earned runs in the bottom of the first inning.
In 19.2 innings over so far this season, Anderson has allowed 21 hits 11 walks and 13 runs (11 earned) for a 5.03 ERA.
