Contra Costa's Mosquito & Vector Control District is looking to get a handle on "nuisance mosquitoes" in the far eastern part of the county.

Bethel Island and Holland Tract area near Knightsen will be fogged by a low-volume truck sprayer with Scourge insecticide between 5 and 6:20 a.m. Tuesday, according to the district.

The Bethel Island area to be treated is from Taylor Road at the Anchor Marina to Taylor Place, from south to north. Holland Tract treatment includes the area bordered by Holland Tract Road.

A high concentration of mosquitoes that don't carry diseases such as West Nile Virus but are characterized as nuisances live in the area, said public affairs spokeswoman Deborah Bass. This is usually the time of year when fogging starts, usually in the Holland Tract area, she said.
