SAN FRANCISCO -- San Francisco Fire crews rescued a man from a 3-story residential building in San Francisco's Pacific Heights neighborhood, a fire captain said.
The 3-alarm blaze began about 10:50 a.m. at 2008 Vallejo Street, between Laguna and Buchanan streets, Capt. Niels Tangherlini said. Crews were there in 3 minutes and saw flames coming from the second story of what is a multi-unit building and added a second alarm, Tangherlini said.
Rescue crews initially had some difficult convincing the man to leave but eventually coaxed him out of the building, Tangherlini said.
As the fire spread, it threatened other buildings in the area and fire crews sounded a third alarm, Tangherlini said. Crews using a high-pressure water system put the fire under control at 11:56 a.m., a dispatcher said.
Nobody else was injured, Tangherlini said.
