RICHMOND -- A 22-year-old Richmond man became the latest victim in the city's escalating violence when he was shot to death inside a vehicle on Sunday, police said.
Roy Hill was found in the driver's seat of a car at about 2:20 p.m. in the 2700 block of Ohio Avenue on the edge of the city's Iron Triangle neighborhood, Detective Nicole Abetkov said. Police were called to the scene after a shot-spotter device was activated, she said.
Police are investigating and they did not name any suspects. Hill was shot with two different calibers of gun, Abetkov said, but no other details were available.
Hill became the eighth homicide victim so far this year in Richmond, and the fourth in April.
Later Sunday, another man was shot near the city's Pullman Townhouses, a low-income housing unit on Pullman Avenue. That man, whom police did not identify, was in the passenger seat of a vehicle around 11:23 p.m. when he was hit in the back by gunfire as the vehicle drove by the complex.
He was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive, Abetkov said.
