ANTIOCH -- A 4-year-old girl who nearly drowned in the swimming pool of an exercise facility last week was expected to be released from the hospital Wednesday after making a full recovery, according to the Contra Costa Fire Protection District.
The girl, who was not identified, was rescued shortly after 6 p.m. on Saturday after she was discovered in the pool by patrons of In-Shape fitness on Lone Tree Way, according to the agency's website.
Fitness center staff members pulled the girl from the pool and performed CPR on the girl for two minutes until paramedics arrived, the agency's website stated.
Paramedics said the girl had no pulse and was not breathing when they arrived, but they resuscitated her before an ambulance arrived, according to the blog.
On Tuesday, the girl was alert and active. She had regained all of her motor skills and her neurological function was normal, the agency reported.
