UNION CITY -- A man suspected of repeatedly tampering with police cruisers was arrested this week after police say he was caught hiding between cars in a police lot.
Darryl Emerson, a 59-year-old transient with a history of arrests for entering and tampering with police vehicles, was spotted in a gated police department parking lot just before 10 a.m. on Monday.
According to a police report, some Union City employees noticed a man crouched down and hiding between city vehicles.
The employees notified police, and shortly after officers found him and arrested him on suspicion of trespassing, jail records show.
"Luckily the suspect was located and arrested before him gaining access to any patrol vehicles," Cmdr. Ben Horner said.
