A Vacaville High School teacher who was placed on paid administrative leave last month is facing criminal charges related to sexual misconduct with a minor.
Solano County prosecutors on Wednesday filed a felony charge in Solano County Superior Court against Rodney Orosco, 47, alleging that he committed a lewd and lascivious act upon a child. .
The victim in the case is 15 years old and the alleged misconduct spanned from February to mid-April, according to the court filing.
Orosco, hired in the 2005-06 school year, is an English teacher and drama coach at Vacaville High School.
Orosco was placed on paid administrative leave on April 15.
According to Vacaville police, the allegation was reported after the girl's grandparent saw Orosco carrying her across the stage at the school theater. Family members talked to the victim, who then revealed additional details about her relationship with Orosco, police said. The victim reported that Orosco kissed her on three separate occasions, an allegation that was supported by text messages on the girl's cell phone, police said.
