OAKLAND -- A motorcyclist who collided with an SUV Monday on a residential street north of Concannon Boulevard has died, according to a spokeswoman at the Alameda County Coroner's office.

He was identified as Paul Schandel, 44, of Livermore.

Schandel was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcyclist about 4 p.m. Monday when the bike collided with a silver 2007 Lexus SUV along north Holmes Street, said Livermore Police Officer Traci Rebiejo. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead, authorities said.

Rebiejo was not immediately available for comment and no additional details about the crash, including the condition of the SUV driver, were released Tuesday.

The crash remains under investigation; police asked Monday for any potential witnesses to step forward to help police piece together how the crash happened. Witnesses should call police at 925-580-9665.
