PLEASANTON -- A mother and her infant son are safe after two men robbed her then attempted to kidnap her boy inside an apartment complex Wednesday night, police said.
At 6:20 p.m., the mother walked her son from a bus stop on the south side of West Las Positas Boulevard onto the grounds of Las Positas Garden Townhomes, where she was followed by two suspects.
Suddenly, police said, one of the men pushed the woman to the ground and grabbed her purse from her shoulder while a second man took control of the stroller, with the child still seated inside, and took off toward Santa Rita Road.
After a short distance, the man lost control of the stroller, causing it to tip over. Though the man then tried to grab the child from the stroller, he failed and both men continued toward Santa Rita Road.
Neither the mother nor her infant son were injured, and they have not been identified by police.
It is unknown if the men knew the woman.
Police described both suspects as clean shaven black male adults between 18 to 25 years old, wearing black baseball caps, black hooded sweatshirts and black pants. The first suspect is approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build. The second is 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall with a medium build.
