A man was killed early Thursday morning in San Jose's 16th homicide of the year.

At 1:18 a.m., police received a report of an injured man lying in a parking lot in the 400 block of Blossom Hill Road in South San Jose.

When they arrived, the man was unconscious. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause of death appears to have been an assault.

No suspects have been identified, police said, and the identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

San Jose's 15th homicide was the death of a woman found Wednesday in a Monterey Road hotel room. There were also two fatal stabbings Wednesday in an unincorporated area of Santa Clara County in the Alum Rock neighborhood.
