HAYWARD -- A 3-year-old Hayward boy who was missing overnight has been returned to his grandfather unharmed, police said.

Sonny Lee's father John Lee, who does not have custody of the toddler, returned the boy Saturday and police are questioning him and said he could face charges.

It's not clear where Sonny Lee was taken after he was last seen at 9 p.m. Friday at his home on Orchard Avenue in Hayward. His grandfather, who has custody of the child, was at the home but was asleep when the boy went missing, police said.

The grandparents currently have court-ordered custody of the boy.
