SAN FRANCISCO -- An Emeryville man was reported missing Monday after he walked away from his friends at the finish line of the Bay to Breakers race Sunday and never returned to his work or his home, police said.

Beau Rasmussen, 27, said goodbye to his friends after finishing the 7.46-mile run about 12 p.m., and said he was headed to the beach, according to San Francisco police. Later that night, his phone, credit cards and passport were discovered near the Beach Chalet Brewery and Restaurant across the street from Ocean Beach.

According to the Coast Guard, no one fitting Rasmussen's description was seen by lifeguards entering the water Sunday afternoon or evening. The man was reported missing after he did not arrive for his job at a San Ramon renewable energy company Monday morning.

Rasmussen is described as a white male, 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 195 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing jeans and an old maroon football jersey with "Chris" and the number 28 on the back.
