FREMONT — Police are asking residents not to leave running vehicles in their driveways after two cars were stolen from homes on Tuesday morning.
Officers first responded at 5 a.m. to a report of a vehicle theft on the 4100 block of Redstone Terrace, said police spokeswoman Geneva Bosques. The second theft took place at 7:20 a.m. on the 32400 block of Lake Temescal Lane.
In both cases, the vehicles had been left running in the driveway with the keys in the ignition, she said.
The vehicle from the first theft was later located unoccupied in Newark, Bosques said.
A third auto theft was reported about 7:30 a.m., when suspects broke into a vehicle on the 37200 block of Meadowbrook Common.
In that case suspects burglarized a vehicle, removed a set of keys left behind by the owner and stole a second vehicle.
"We'd like to remind residents that leaving a vehicle running unattended in your driveway is very risky and always remember to remove all valuables," Bosques said.
