MARTINEZ -- Two teens have been charged with attempted murder for shooting two Albany High School students near the BART tracks in El Cerrito earlier this year, authorities said Tuesday.

Last week, ¿the Contra Costa County District Attorney's office charged Willie Lee Levi Jr., 19, of San Pablo, with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of attempted robbery while using weapons.

Earlier this month, a 17-year-old San Pablo boy was arrested in the 2000 block of Broadway Avenue in San Pablo in connection with the shooting on Jan. 23 at the Ohlone Greenway below the BART tracks near Stockton Avenue, authorities said.

The boy was on probation at the time and police found an assault rifle and ammunition at the home. He was charged later as an adult with three counts of attempted murder and three counts of attempted robbery while using weapons. His name was not released.

The shooting sent one victim to the hospital in critical condition; he underwent surgery and is recovering. Another student suffered a minor wound to the face and was treated and released. Another person escaped the shooting uninjured.

Police later determined that Levi and the teen were also responsible for a robbery at the El Cerrito Plaza BART station earlier in that day.

Both remain in custody at County Jail in Martinez.
