NORTH RICHMOND -- One man is in custody after a shooting this afternoon that was apparently witnessed by police detectives, authorities said.

Investigators were searching the area of Kelsey Street and Alamo Avenue in North Richmond for possible victims and evidence around 4:30 p.m. said Richmond police Det. Nicole Abetkov. Police had not yet located anyone injured in the shooting, and do not believe anyone was hit.

A unit of gang, parole and probation detectives were patrolling the area at 3:52 p.m. when they saw a gunman open fire, Abetkov said. The man, who has not been identified, was taken into custody, police said. It was unclear what the man was shooting at, Abetkov said.
