Granada's Tyler takes ninth at state

Granada High's Matt Tyler advanced to the finals of the boys high jump at the California Interscholastic Federation state track and field championships in Clovis on June 1. Tyler was the East Bay Athletic League champion in the high jump, triple jump and long jump, won the long jump and took second in the high jump at the North Coast Section Tri-Valley Area meet, and was fourth in the high jump at the NCS Meet of Champions on May 25, where his mark of 6 feet, 5 inches was good enough to advance to the state meet as an at-large entry. Tyler made the finals at the state meet and finished ninth.
