RICHMOND -- A Richmond man who was found beaten and shot at his Iron Triangle neighborhood home last week was identified Monday as 53-year-old Jose Garcia, according to the Contra Costa Coroner's Office.
Garcia was found unconscious at a residence in the 600 block of Chanslor Avenue about 12:40 a.m. Friday by someone who called police, Richmond police Lt. Andre Hill said.
Garcia was taken to a hospital, where he later died, Hill said. Police don't have a motive for the shooting or any suspects but they don't believe the death was gang-related.
Garcia was the 12th homicide victim so far this year in the city of Richmond.
