PIEDMONT -- A parolee was one of three men arrested Tuesday after police said they tried to burglarize two homes on Blair Avenue.

Officers were dispatched to the 600 block of the street about 11 a.m. after a resident told police that one of the men knocked on their door and asked for someone who did not live there, which the resident considered suspicious.

When the officers arrived, they spotted Aaron Henderson and James Beverly Jr., who are both 20, exiting the ourtyard of a nearby property and getting into a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Deandre Mur, police said.

The men did not enter the homes, but officers arrested them after reviewing video surveillance footage and other evidence, police Chief Rikki Goede said.

The Alameda County District Attorney's Office charged the three men with burglary on Wednesday. Mur is also accused of violating his parole.

In the wake of the arrests, investigators are now checking whether the three men, who each live in Oakland, are linked to other recent burglaries, Goede said.

The officers who were dispatched to the neighborhood and detained the men were Ray Leong, Steve DeWarns, Joe Garcia and Tom Kincaid.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Detective George Phifer or Detective Bob Coffey at 510-420-3010.
