Police in Mountain View arrested two San Jose men after a car chase Thursday night, police said.
At about 8 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop at El Camino Real and Grant Road when the driver of the 1995 white Honda Civic, 31-year-old David Antonio Perez, kept driving, according to police.
The Civic, occupied by Perez and 46-year-old Vance Edmond Howeth, was reported stolen out of San Jose, police said.
Perez drove onto state Highway 237 and then state Highway 85 as the officer pursued, according to police.
The suspect car then went to the off-ramp at Moffett Boulevard and crashed into a car at a traffic light. The Honda then veered off the road and hit a traffic control box, according to police.
All the power at the intersection was lost due to the accident, police said.
Perez fled from the car and entered a creek area but was located at the Quality Inn and Suites at 5 Fairchild Drive in Mountain View, police said.
Howeth, who suffered a minor injury, was detained at the scene of the crash.
No one else was injured in the crash, police said.
Both men were arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of possession of a stolen car, failure to yield, hit and run, and theft with a prior. Perez also was booked on suspicion of resisting an officer.
