A teenager and a dog were gunned down late Saturday and police are searching for at least two suspects in Vallejo's latest homicide.

At about 11:28 p.m., Vallejo police responded to to reports of multiple shots fired and a subject shot in the driveway of a home in the 100 block of Sawyer Street, police said in a statement released early Sunday.

The victim, an 18-year-old male, was taken by his family to a local hospital with numerous gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at about 12:53 a.m. after being treated at the emergency room, police said.

Vallejo police are withholding the man's identity pending notification of next of kin. At least two suspects are believed to be involved in the shooting, which took place while the man was in the front driveway of a children's party he was attending, police said.

In addition to the man, a 2-year-old pit bull was also shot and taken by animal control officers to a local veterinarian for treatment, police said.

The case follows a string of violence in the city during the last two weeks, including a double homicide and two officer-involved shootings.
