DUBLIN-- Police are searching for a thief or thieves they say stole 11 go-karts from a Dublin church group early on the morning of June 3.

Officers responded to the report at Valley Christian Center, located at 7500 Inspiration Drive, after employees discovered that eleven personalized, motor-driven vehicles were stolen from a locked storage container overnight, Lt. Herb Walters said.

The go-karts, which range in value from $1,000 to $2,000 each, are used by children in a youth ministry program that teaches students and church members how to drive and race the vehicles, Walters said. Also stolen were two go-kart motors and several other pieces of equipment.

The total cost of vehicles and equipment stolen is valued at $16,840, Walters said. Police reviewed video surveillance from the parking lot where the storage unit was located and saw a mid-sized vehicle and U-Haul-like truck with no markings leaving the scene.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Dublin Police Services Detective Dawn Sullivan at 925-833-6667.
