WALNUT CREEK -- Two men who robbed a Holiday Inn at gunpoint late Monday night remain at large, police said.
The robbery happened just before 11 p.m. at the Holiday Inn at 2730 North Main St. when the two men entered the front lobby and demanded money from an employee working at the front desk, Walnut Creek police Sgt. Mike Sugrue said. One of the men carried a handgun.
The employee gave the men an undisclosed amount of money and they then fled on foot, though police did not say in which direction. Police dogs tried to track them but were unsuccessful, Sugrue said.
Both suspects were described as black males in their early 20s, approximately 5 feet, 11 inches or 6 feet tall with a thin build, Sugrue said. The man with the gun was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, white shirt, dark bluejeans, red shoes and a dark hat, with his face partially covered.
The other suspect, whom police said was not seen with a gun, was wearing a green hoodie, light blue jeans, black shoes and white gloves, Sugrue said. His face also was partially covered.
The hotel clerk was not injured during the robbery, Sugrue said.
